Moss and lichen are essential componants of biodiversity but we don’t often consider them. We think of them as a wash of green but there are millions of wildly different types ranging in form, colour and function. On a research level Im interested in documenting whether the moss and lichen differ between areas of native, mixed and plantation forests. On a creative level Im interested in looking more closely at a highly intricate but often forgotten part of the forest eco system.
I have been photographing, reading, writing and documenting notes on moss, lichen, bryophyte and fungi for the past 6 months to a year in order to formalise a line of enquiry and format for a more structured study. Within this section I will just post some lovely visual finds and initial thoughts.
