This section documents experiments and projects that try to make my photography less reliant on chemicals, non biodegradable or hazardous materials. These are presented as a work in progress along with notes and thoughts on process. My current focus has been on 35mm photographic process and alternative DIY film developers. I acknowledge that at its core art is highly extractive and photography will not become entirely sustainable or environmentally neutral. These tests just aim to be more mindful of what is involved in the process and to make small changes by swapping out certain chemicals for plant based, seaweed based, waste or other less destructive sources. Within that there is a new found excitement artistically as I get to re-asses what makes a good image and how my materiality and process ties in more heavily thematically with my work.
